Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Apprentice Artisan (Mechanical Fitter) in Welkom to learn assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment through a structured apprenticeship. Under the guidance of experienced artisans you will read engineering drawings, use hand and machine tools, perform routine checks, and progress toward a trade qualification and a stable career.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent with strong maths and physical science.
• Genuine interest in mechanical work and willingness to learn.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in industrial environments.
• Commitment to completing the full apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Assist artisans in assembly, installation, and repair of mechanical equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Use hand and machine tools for fabrication and repair.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and identify issues.
• Participate in workshop training and related coursework.
• Follow safety procedures and site regulations.
