Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Fitter to join our client’s operation focused on heavy industrial machinery. The role encompasses assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing large-scale equipment to ensure reliability and safety in demanding environments.

The ideal candidate will have a formal trade qualification or extensive apprenticeship background, hands-on machining experience, and the ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints.

Qualifications

• Qualified Mechanical Fitter with a recognized trade qualification or extensive apprenticeship background.
• Experience in fitting and machining on heavy industrial machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; welding and fabrication is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and commission new heavy machinery and systems according to drawings and specs.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on pumps, engines, conveyors, and hydraulics.
• Diagnose faults, disassemble components, and plan repair strategies.
• Repair or replace worn parts to ensure proper fit and function of all components.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance work, repairs, and parts used.
• Use hand and power tools, precision instruments, and shop equipment safely.
