Job summary

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC is seeking a Lineman Apprentice to perform construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines. The on-site role is based from the Dallas Northeast Service Center, with travel as needed and strict adherence to safety rules and Oncor’s standards.

The position requires CDL, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a willingness to advance through Oncor’s Lineman Training Program.

Qualifications

• Must have a Class A CDL driver’s license.
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• 4+ years of related distribution utility construction experience encouraged to apply.
• Certificate or degree from an accredited lineman school encouraged to apply.
• Associate degree in electrical technology or related field encouraged to apply.
• Proof of lineman and safety training programs required.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures in accordance with construction standards.
• Work on equipment energized at distribution voltages with approved safety practices.
• Live within 60 minutes of service center; travel within service area as needed.
• Participate in Oncor’s safety handbook and local safety programs.
• Support learning and progression through Oncor Lineman Training Program.

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, headquartered in Dallas, is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Summary

As an Apprentice, you will perform construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures in accordance with Oncor’s construction standards manuals. All tasks are carried out under the direction of others and with the approval of the supervising authority. Work involves conductors and equipment energized at distribution voltages, utilizing approved protective equipment and tools.

This on-site position will have an assigned service territory within our Oncor Electric Delivery Company market and be based out of our Dallas Northeast Service Center.

Attributes and Responsibilities

• Available to be on-call in the scheduled rotation, available for overtime work, and 24-hour call-out is required.
• Willing to travel outside your assigned district when needed is required.
• Able to work off wood poles, insulated platforms, and bucket trucks using approved safety practices and rules is required.
• Able to lift 75 pounds above his/her head on a regular basis is required.
• Successful candidate will be expected to live within 60 minutes of the service center with 30 minutes or less preferred.
• Expected to comply with the Code of Conduct at all times and shall participate in the local safety programs.
• Committed to the Oncor’s Core Values and to learning and abiding by Oncor’s Safety Handbook.

Education and Experience

• 4 plus years of related distribution utility construction work experience is encouraged to apply.
• Certificate or degree from an accredited lineman school is encouraged to apply.
• Associate's degree in electrical technology or related field is encouragedto apply.
• Able to provide proof of successful lineman and safety training programs.
• Successful candidate must demonstrate the skills needed to advance in the Oncor Lineman Training Program within a reasonable time frame commensurate with proven work experience and abilities.
