Job summary

Xcel Energy in Littlefield, TX is seeking an Apprentice Lineman (1st Year) to learn and perform construction, maintenance, and operation of distribution and transmission lines. You’ll join a DOE-certified apprentice program and grow your skills through hands-on training and year-by-year schooling.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliable customer service as you support line construction, maintenance, and emergency repairs. Willingness to travel and after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Must have a valid CDL Class A license or be able to obtain within 120 days.
• Must have successfully taken the EEI CAST Assessment.
• Must be totally committed to safety, quality work and customer service.
• Must be able and willing to respond to after hour and weekend call outs.
• Position could possibly require travel for extended time periods.
• Apprentices are required to attend 2nd, 3rd and 4th year apprentice schools.
• Must be mentally competent, able to communicate and able to comprehend instructions and build on previous experience.
• Must exhibit a teamwork attitude and be able to work with others.
• Must be of adequate physical stature to lift and maneuver up to 90 lbs., climb wood poles up to 100' tall, perform aerial work in a safety belt, and use heavy tools.
• Must pass the federal DOT physical examination.
• Must complete all questions in application and upload a resume for consideration.
• Must reside within 20 miles of the Littlefield Service Center

Xcel Energy Distribution Department is looking to fill an Apprentice (1st Year) Line Worker position for our Littlefield, TX location!

As an Apprentice Lineman you will be taught a very rewarding career in constructing, maintenance, removal and storm restoration of high voltage distribution and transmission lines. Xcel Energy has a very reputable Department of Labor certified apprentice program that is recognized throughout the United States.

Summary

Required: Apprentice Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED
• Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL Class A) or ability to acquire it within 120 days of start date.
• Must have successfully taken the EEI CAST Assessment
• Must be totally committed to safety, quality work and customer service
• Must be able and willing to respond to after hour and weekend call outs
• Position could possibly require travel for extended time periods
• Apprentices are required to attend 2nd, 3rd and 4th year apprentice schools
