Job summary

American AgCredit is seeking an entry-level to early-career, unlicensed real estate appraiser trainee. Under supervision, you will prepare inspection reports and real estate appraisals while working toward state licensing.

You will join a team across lending, underwriting and operations to deliver high-quality service. Responsibilities include gathering data, collecting sales information, assisting with appraisals, and progressing through licensing education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree for licensing in some states.
  • At least one year of related experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in PC use (email, word processing, spreadsheets).
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed staff in developing real estate appraisals on large and complex valuations.
  • Collect sales information from county websites, MLS and realtor sites.
  • Research, verify and enter sales into the sales database.
  • Commence and complete the education requirements for real estate appraisal licensing.
  • Locate and plot area/neighborhood sales information and compile data for land value trends.
  • Respond to Association staff or others by providing information about appraisal programs and projects.
  • Work with customers and Association employees; respond to information requests.
  • Monitor follow-up requirements in assigned areas.
  • Initiate written and telephone communications to obtain information and related documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Overview

This is an entry level to early career unlicensed position. Individuals in this position are working towards state licensing as a real estate appraiser. Under supervision, the person will prepare inspection reports on loans that involve pledged collateral (both new loans and loan servicing) and complete real estate appraisals under delegated authority or supervision of a licensed appraiser. The role collaborates with team members across lending, underwriting and operations to provide high quality, timely, and accurate service to customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed staff in developing real estate appraisals on large and complex valuations. Gather data such as location maps, assessor maps, aerial maps, soils maps, FEMA maps, property profiles, legal descriptions, and other information required to start an appraisal report. Complete appraisals under delegated authority or under supervision of a licensed appraiser.
  • Collect sales information from county websites, MLS and realtor sites. Develop relationships with realtors and others to obtain documentation and verification of sales.
  • Research, verify and enter sales into the sales database.
  • Commence and complete the education requirements for real estate appraisal licensing.
  • Locate and plot area/neighborhood sales information and compile data for land value trends; assist with drafting reports to management.
  • Respond to Association staff or others by providing written and verbal information about appraisal programs and projects.
  • Work with customers and Association employees; respond independently to information and assistance requests.
  • Monitor follow-up requirements in assigned areas.
  • Initiate written and telephone communications to obtain information and related documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision and Education

Works under general direction and supervision of the Appraisal Director. Typical education and experience: a BA/BS degree in agriculture, business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or related field for state licensing; at least one year of related experience; strong communication and organizational skills; willingness to travel as needed.

Essential Job Requirements

Must be able to perform basic office tasks in a typical office setting. The role requires sitting at a desk and working at a computer for extended periods. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Physical demands include talking, hearing, using hands and fingers, and reaching in all directions. Some lifting up to 25 pounds. Ability to drive a four-wheel-drive vehicle to inspect rural properties. Must be able to walk up to ½ mile, navigate uneven terrain and construction sites, and cross fences safely. Work during established business hours with occasional weekend or evening work.

Must have a valid Class C driver’s license.

Remote/Hybrid and Pay

PART-TIME REMOTE/HYBRID: Part-time remote employees will work partly remote and partly onsite as arranged with their managers.

Pay Range

Minimum $52,106.98 – Maximum $78,160.47 annually. This range reflects the national salary average and may be adjusted for geographic variance. Compensation, title, and job level may be adjusted based on candidate qualifications, achievements, skills, experience, or work location. Salary is one component of total rewards.
