Job summary

The County of Siskiyou is seeking an apprentice level appraiser to analyze data for ad valorem tax purposes and perform standard field appraisals of residential, rural, and personal property. Under supervision, you will collect, analyze, and report sales, rental, and cost data, and assist in public hearings as needed.

This entry-level role trains under seasoned appraisers; possession of a valid driver’s license and eventual certification as a state appraiser are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of appraisal of real and personal property.
• Laws and regulations affecting the appraisal of real and personal property, including State Constitution, Revenue and Taxation Code, and Assessor's Handbook.
• Bachelor’s degree desirable; otherwise high school diploma with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts investigations and analyzes data for the appraisal of real and personal property.
• Gathers information and measures and plots land and improvements.
• Meets the public and responds to concerns about property appraisals; assists with value presentations at public hearings.
