Job summary

Roane State Community College invites applications for the position of Applied Technology Lab Technician. The role supports laboratory activities across Chemical Engineering Technology, Computer Information Technology, Environmental Health Technology, Mechatronics Technology, and Nuclear Technology.

Labs are at the Oak Ridge Branch Campus, Anderson County Higher Education Center, and Roane County Campus; classes include day, evening, and some weekend sessions.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher in a technical field.
• Demonstrable experience in laboratory equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Experience with mechanical equipment, process equipment, and instrumentation is a plus.
• Teaching experience in applied technology is preferred.
• Knowledge of the role and purpose of the community college in higher education.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance and repair of equipment and instrumentation in Applied Technology labs.
• Coordinate warranty and non-warranty repairs requiring outside vendor support.
• Maintain safety protocol requirements and coordinate with the EHS Compliance Manager.
• Lead and coordinate lab supply purchases and restock orders.
• Interact with students to demonstrate troubleshooting and equipment repair techniques.
• Support lab sessions and proctor online classes as needed.
• Organize and label tools, equipment, and materials for efficient access and storage.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of lab activities across multiple campus locations.
• Maintain organized records and files regarding procedures, manuals, and equipment documentation.
