Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking experts to advance Responsible AI (RAI) across a broad set of AI systems, including generative and agentic applications. You will work on controllability, privacy, safety, fairness, explainability, and governance, collaborating with internal teams and external researchers.

The role emphasizes building scalable AI governance, evaluating alignment with customer and societal expectations, and contributing to security and reliability across Amazon’s AI solutions.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree with 4+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field.
• Proficient in Java, C++, Python; strong programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Understand in depth the technical and scientific issues related to Responsible AI (RAI).
• Help define strategies, priorities and metrics for RAI.
• Solve open problems in RAI to unblock AI use cases and publish findings.
• Help develop the RAI team.
• Liaise with stakeholders including academia on RAI issues.

• understand in depth the technical and scientific issues related to RAI, including controllability, security, privacy, safety, veracity, robustness, fairness, explainability, transparency, and governance

Basic Qualifications

• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with one of the following areas: machine learning technologies, Reinforcement Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP) or related applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience prioritizing and delivering projects on time in a fast-moving environment
• Passion for responsibly building and operating complex AI/ML systems, with consideration for controllability, privacy, security, safety, veracity, robustness, fairness, explainability, transparency, and governance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data and communicate complex concepts effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
• Publication record on issues in responsible AI or related to responsible AI

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
