Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking an Applied Scientist to design and develop state-of-the-art ML models powering enterprise supply chain applications at global scale.

You will work at the intersection of research and real-world impact, translating breakthroughs into production systems that serve millions of customers. The role focuses on predictive analytics, GenAI and agentic AI capabilities, working with large-scale data and cutting-edge ML techniques.

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
• Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.
• Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code.
• Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application.
• Experience with or exposure to generative AI, large language models (LLMs), or agentic AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML models for demand forecasting, inventory optimization, anomaly detection, and supply chain decision-making; guided by senior scientists on new problems.
• Contribute to GenAI and Agentic AI solutions; implement model components, pipelines, and evaluation harnesses.
• Formulate business problems as ML problems; define data requirements, architectures, evaluation metrics, and experimentation plans.
• Drive end-to-end applied science projects from prototyping through offline evaluation, A/B testing, and production deployment with increasing autonomy.
• Publish research in top conferences and contribute to patent filings.
• Raise the technical bar through code reviews, design feedback, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate science into customer-facing features; communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with state-of-the-art AI/ML research; identify opportunities to apply emerging techniques to problems.
• Follow and contribute to best practices for experimentation, model validation, and responsible AI development.
