Job summary

Amazon Braket is seeking an Applied Scientist to own resource estimation for fault-tolerant quantum workloads on AWS. You will determine physical qubit requirements, gate depths, and error budgets for target algorithms on given devices, guiding decisions and roadmaps.

You will codify solutions in production-quality code and collaborate with QEC scientists to integrate results into code and product offerings.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, CS, Applied Mathematics, or related field with focus on quantum computing is required or strongly preferred.
• Experience with quantum error correction research and resource estimation is required.
• Strong coding skills in Python; at least one compiled language for performance.

Responsibilities

• Build FTQC resource estimation models to determine qubit counts, gate depths, and error budgets.
• Develop benchmarking frameworks for compilation quality under hardware constraints.
• Produce resource estimates to inform technical decisions and customer readiness work.
• Collaborate with QEC scientists on how estimates feed into code selection and optimization.
• Connect benchmarking outputs to published materials with Braket's teams.
• Stay current with QEC literature and integrate new results into models.
