Job Description: Applied Scientist

Wealth.com seeks passionate early-career professionals to apply advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs), Computer Vision (CV), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to the legal and financial tech sectors. Applied Scientists will collaborate with Software Engineers and other Applied Scientists on various AI initiatives. Using state-of-the-art natural language and vision models, they will help build complex legal AI agents.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Fine-tuning and integration of LLMs: Integrating models like OpenAI/Gemini/Claude/Llama/MistralAI into production systems.
  2. Training and deployment of NLP/CV models: Building large-scale models to power complex document understanding.
  3. RAG framework development: Designing and implementing scalable, efficient, and precise Q&A Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks.
  4. Data pipeline creation: Working with complex datasets to build Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines.
  5. AI quality improvement: Collaborating with product managers and engineers to build tools for evaluating and improving end-to-end AI quality.
  6. Stakeholder communication: Effectively communicating and demonstrating work to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).
  • Experience building sophisticated RAG pipelines with LLMs (using frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hamilton, etc.).
  • Experience with deep learning architectures, specifically natural language-based models (PyTorch/TensorFlow), vector databases, and graph databases.
  • Experience developing applications using prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and APIs (Google Vertex AI, Azure Open AI, or equivalents).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s/PhD and 1+ year of relevant experience OR equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience creating publications (patents, peer-reviewed papers).
  • 2+ years of experience writing production code, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML models.
  • 2+ years of research experience in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, data mining, or information retrieval.
  • 3+ years of experience in Python.
