Job summary

The MITRE Corporation is seeking an Operations Research Analyst to join its Operations Analysis department. You will apply advanced analytical techniques, build and run models, and present actionable insights to sponsors across defense, healthcare, cybersecurity, and public sector domains.

You will work four days on-site with collaboration from PhD-level researchers and domain experts, leveraging tools like Gurobi, Python, and various simulation platforms to deliver high-impact solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in OR/IE/Data Science/Applied Math or an advanced degree with relevant experience.
• Passion for applying ops research, statistics, and data analytics to real-world problems.
• Willingness to adapt and learn new methods.
• Demonstrated ability to use at least one optimization package (Gurobi/CPLEX/PuLP/AMPL).
• Demonstrated ability to use at least one programming language (Python/R/Java).
• Demonstrated ability to use at least one simulation platform (Stella/Simio/Arena/AnyLogic/SimPy/RSimmer).
• Active Secret U.S. Government clearance and eligibility for Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Onsite work four days a week.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytics and mathematical modeling to inform policy and acquisition decisions.
• Frame problems, collect data, code customized algorithms, assess risks, and add domain context.
• Present results in an intuitive, actionable way with visual data artifacts for sponsor audiences.
• Work independently and with a technical team and domain experts.
• Work effectively in both remote and on-site settings.
