Mercor seeks an Applied Economics & Finance Benchmark Specialist to design and evaluate economics and finance questions for AI research collaborations. This contract role is remote and requires a commitment of 10+ hours per week.

You will author questions, ensure clarity and self-containment, rate difficulty, provide step-by-step reasoning in Markdown, and supply references. A PhD or doctoral candidate in economics or finance is required; a Master’s degree may be considered for exceptional depth.

Qualifications

• PhD in Economics, Finance, or closely related field.
• Master’s degree considered for exceptional depth.
• Strong command of graduate-level economic theory, quantitative methods, and financial modeling.
• Excellent written English; ability to express complex ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Create original economics and finance questions that test deep understanding.
• Ensure questions are unambiguous, self-contained, and well-defined.
• Rate each question's difficulty (Medium/Hard/Expert) and provide 1 correct answer with 9 distractors.
• Provide step-by-step Chain-of-Thought solutions in Markdown and include 1–5 academic references per question.
