Apple Inc. is seeking an AIML - Applied AI Scientist to advance autograder systems for image generation features in Cupertino. You will develop scalable autograders that score image quality and influence AI experiences used by hundreds of millions of customers.

This role blends evaluation, model training, data quality, and AI engineering in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with MLEs, feature teams, and annotation teams to refine rubrics, design prompts, and deploy autograders at

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of visual-language models.
• Familiarity with image quality assessment - perceptual quality, metrics, and rubric design.
• Proficiency in Python; production-ready model code.
• Strong communication skills in explaining autograder quality and adoption with partner teams.

Responsibilities

• Focus on Autograder research, training and adoption.
• Collaborate with AI feature teams, eval design teams, and annotation teams to refine feature requirements, grading rubrics and gold annotation sets.
• Develop, evaluate, and iterate on grading prompts to align autograder behavior with grading rubrics and gold sets.
• Identify when prompt tuning reaches its limits and apply techniques like fine-tuning to close remaining gaps.
• Design insightful analysis to measure and explain Autograder quality and collaborate on deployment.
