General Matter, Inc. is building the world's lowest-cost enrichment services in the US, redefining engineering workflows with AI. We seek an Applied AI leader to drive tooling, licensing, safety analysis, and technoeconomic modeling across teams.

You will coach engineers, steer technical direction, stay hands-on, and push rapid, scalable AI-driven solutions that reshape how engineering is done in nuclear tech.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering or applied AI experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing, mentoring, or growing engineers.
• Hands-on with LLMs, AI agents, and modern AI techniques.
• Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Applied AI team: hire, develop, retain engineers, and set a high technical bar.
• Own technical direction and prioritization; identify top leverage problems for the team.
• Stay hands-on: review architecture, solve hard issues, contribute to implementation.
• Partner with engineering teams across General Matter to improve workflows using AI.
• Build scalable engineering practices for project selection, prototyping, evaluation, handoff.
• Represent Applied AI across the company, communicating progress and tradeoffs.
