iManage seeks an Applied AI Engineer (New or Recent Grad) in Chicago to join the Applied AI team. You will craft AI capabilities powering iManage's enterprise platform, including Ask iManage, document classification, extraction, and LLM-driven features, while learning from peers.

You will contribute to model development, production serving, and cloud deployments, with mentorship and growth opportunities in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, AI, Statistics, or related field.
• 0-2 years of experience including internships, research, or coursework in ML/AI or software engineering.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with PyTorch and Hugging Face.
• Solid ML fundamentals with exposure to modern generative AI or transformer architectures.
• Foundational software engineering skills – Git/GitHub, testing, and build processes.
• Ability to collaborate, communicate clearly, and take ownership of learning.
• Growth mindset and enthusiasm for building AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to ML lifecycle from model development to production serving with guidance from senior engineers.
• Write, test, and maintain production-quality code for ML/LLM features and APIs.

Being an Applied AI Engineer at iManage Means…

You are early in your career and excited to build and ship AI systems that work at scale in production. You will work within the Applied AI team alongside engineers, data scientists, and product stakeholders - learning from experienced peers as you help develop the AI capabilities that power iManage's enterprise work platform, including Ask iManage, our generative AI document assistant, as well as document classification, extraction, and LLM-driven features that directly impact how knowledge workers search, organize, and understand their most critical information. You bring solid fundamentals, a growth mindset, and a hunger to learn how machine learning, software engineering, and cloud infrastructure come together in real products.

iM Responsible For…

• Contributing to AI systems across the ML lifecycle - from model development and evaluation to production serving — with guidance and mentorship from senior engineers
• Writing, testing, and maintaining production-quality code for ML/LLM features and APIs
• Helping build and run evaluations that measure model quality and catch regressions
• Supporting deployment and monitoring of ML systems on cloud infrastructure, and learning our CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Collaborating with teammates and product stakeholders, asking good questions, and taking ownership of well-scoped pieces of work
• Continuously growing your skills through code review, pairing, and best-practice guidance
• Building internal platform tooling and paved paths that make it faster and safer for the wider team to ship AI systems

iM Qualified Because I Have…

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or a related field
• 0-2 years of experience, including internships, research, or substantial coursework/personal projects in ML/AI or software engineering
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with modern AI frameworks such as PyTorch and Hugging Face
• A solid grasp of ML fundamentals, with some hands-on exposure to modern generative AI or transformer architectures
• Foundational software engineering skills - version control (Git/GitHub) and an understanding of how code gets built and tested
• The ability to work collaboratively, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your learning
• A growth mindset and genuine enthusiasm for building AI systems

Bonus Points If I Have...

• Internship experience shipping software or ML features
• Personal, academic, or open-source projects involving LLMs, RAG, or agentic systems
• Exposure to containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, or cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Coursework or projects in NLP, deep learning, or distributed systems

The overall US annual base salary range for this position is $100,000–$130,000 per year. Individual compensation for each candidate depends on factors such as qualifications, experience, and candidate location. This range does not include additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses, commission, or benefits.
