Job summary

Perplexity Computer seeks an engineer for the Agent Capabilities team, bridging frontier AI research and product innovation. You will shape reusable capabilities and own end-to-end implementation for user and agent tasks at scale.

You will evaluate new model capabilities, improve planning, tools usage, and reliability, and collaborate with PM, Data Science, and Research to translate breakthroughs into production experiences.

Qualifications

• Typically 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building AI-powered products.
• Experience owning AI product lifecycle, with data analysis and production monitoring.
• Ability to translate ambiguous user needs into durable AI/ML solutions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate frontier models against real user tasks and turn advances into production agent systems.
• Improve agents’ planning, tool use, context management, and long-running task reliability.
• Apply ML/LLM techniques to design scalable agent capabilities and production experiences.
• Own agent behavior end-to-end, including evaluations for safety, latency, and user satisfaction.
• Build secure, observable agent systems with tracing, monitoring, and safeguards.
• Collaborate with PM, Data Science, Research to identify high-impact opportunities and productize them.
