Mercor is seeking a Software Engineer on Applied AI to build and operate systems bridging frontier AI research and data delivery. You will own projects end-to-end, prototype quickly, and collaborate with researchers and internal teams to ship high-impact applied AI solutions.

The role emphasizes deep technical execution with customer interaction, ownership, and fast feedback in a hands-on, in-person NYC/San Francisco/London environment.

Qualifications

• Strong backend fundamentals in modern languages (Python/Go/Rust).
• Experience with model training and inference.
• Familiarity with evaluation methods for large language models.
• Comfort working through ambiguity and shipping iteratively.

Responsibilities

• Partner with frontier AI labs to understand data needs.
• Build scalable data pipelines for post-training workflows.
• Design scalable systems for synthetic data generation and quality.
• Prototype new data types, benchmarks, and evaluation frameworks.
• Lead technical discussions with customers.
