Job summary

Sauna by Wordware, based in the Presidio, San Francisco, seeks an Applied AI Engineer to build and scale agent systems from architecture to deployment. This is a full-time, in-person role requiring you to be in the Bay Area or relocate before starting.

You will work across infra, frontend, and product to ensure production-ready agents, with emphasis on fast responses, traceability, and uptime. Visa sponsorship is available for exceptional candidates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering experience, including time shipping production software.
• Built and deployed agent-like systems: multi-step LLM pipelines, tool-using bots, scripted assistants, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with production-grade code across systems without needing a spec.

Responsibilities

• Build, refine, and scale agent systems from architecture to evals to deployment.
• Ensure production performance: fast response times, predictable behavior, traceability, uptime.
• Collaborate across infra, frontend, and product to ensure agents work end-to-end.
