Job summary

Christian & Timbers is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to build production-ready AI apps powered by large language models for enterprise legal teams. You will work with product, engineering, and AI research to design systems that integrate foundation models, retrieval pipelines, and enterprise infrastructure securely and at scale.

Requirements include 3+ years in software engineering, Python proficiency, and experience with LLMs, RAG, and orchestration frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/SE/AI or related field.
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience building production applications using large language models.
  • Strong proficiency in Python.
  • Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and AI application development.
  • Hands-on experience with RAG architectures and vector databases.
  • Familiarity with LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience with FastAPI, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and API development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop enterprise-grade generative AI applications.
  • Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems for large legal knowledge bases.
  • Develop AI agents capable of legal research, document drafting, contract review, and workflow automation.
  • Integrate LLMs with enterprise data sources, APIs, and document management systems.
  • Optimize prompts, evaluation pipelines, and model performance for accuracy, latency, and cost.
  • Evaluate and implement frontier AI models from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and open-source ecosystems.
  • Build scalable backend services supporting AI-powered applications.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and AI teams to rapidly prototype and launch new capabilities.
  • Ensure enterprise-grade security, privacy, and governance across AI systems.
  • Continuously explore emerging technologies in generative AI and agentic architectures.

About the Role

The company is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build production-ready AI applications powered by large language models. This role focuses on translating the latest advances in generative AI into scalable products that solve real-world challenges for enterprise legal teams.
