Job description

As Founding Applied AI Engineer at Tally, you’ll play a crucial role in building at the cutting edge of AI + accounting (across bookkeeping, tax, audit, advisory), including agentic systems for document extraction and organization, data analysis, browser automation, materials/work product preparation, reasoning, and other multi-step workflows across the accounting stack. We’re well funded by top investors and have years of runway.

As Founding Applied AI Engineer, you will:

• Contribute to the technical vision and product direction as a core team member
• Design, develop, test, and support features for our web and backend applications
• Architect and build cutting-edge agentic systems for dozens of workflows
• Fine-tune models, optimize AI systems for reliability and performance, and continuously refine
• Work with the latest, SOTA large language models and cutting edge AI
• Take ownership of projects from concept to production
• Collaborate directly with our customers and design partners
• Forward-deploy with customers to understand and build around their workflows

Who you are:

• Customer and product obsessed
• Excited about solving unsolved problems
• Capable of growing into a leadership position and running an engineering team
• Have 4+ years of startup engineering experience
• Has studied CS/AI or has equivalent experience
• Have built and shipped AI products to end users from 0 to 1
• Are fast at 0 to 1, but also thoughtful about how your technical decisions will scale over time
• Intellectually curious and keep up with the latest advancements in AI/ML frameworks and models
