Applications Support Specialist (Field)

Position Summary: Responsible for conducting the Company's in-field Applications Support activities for automated immunohistochemistry (IHC) instrumentation and reagents. Includes extensive on-site reagent evaluation and optimization, participation in installation, troubleshooting, customer training, and routine follow-up for Sakura customers and sales teams. Participates in quality assurance procedures as required.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Technical Support Activities:
  • Participate in installation and evaluation of IHC instrumentation sold or evaluated in hospitals, research, and commercial facilities.
  • Conduct onsite evaluations of antibodies and probes.
  • Provide operator training and support onsite.
  • Address complex application, instrument, and training issues in the field.
  • Instruct customers in advanced operator training and perform follow-up support.
  • Develop understanding of new product offerings and their applications in immunohistopathology.
  • Participate in industry forums and product demonstrations.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and technical issues, proposing solutions and guiding complaint resolution.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction and professionalism.
  • Complete any assigned special projects.
  • Information Management & Reporting:
    • Communicate regularly with internal and external personnel regarding products.
    • Create documentation to improve department efficiency.
    • Review and edit operator manuals.
    • Participate in meetings and prepare reports or research information as needed.
  • Other Activities:
    • Provide specialized training related to immunohistopathology.
    • Assist in sales training for Sakura's products.
    • Contribute to quality processes and process improvements.
    • Maintain effective communication inside and outside the company.
    Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree preferred; Associates degree or equivalent in medical technology or related field.
    • HT or HTL (ASCP) certification required; QIHC (ASCP) highly desired.
    • At least five years of immunohistochemistry and histology laboratory experience.
    • Knowledge of histology and company's products/services.
    • Strong customer service skills, communication skills, and computer proficiency.
    • Ability to read, analyze, interpret technical and business information.
    • Excellent presentation and problem-solving skills.
    • Physical ability to perform job functions, including travel as needed.

    Work Environment: Requires frequent sitting, occasional standing, walking, and use of hands. May involve travel and communication with individuals and groups. Must be able to respond to multiple work pressures effectively.
