Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a skilled scientist/engineer to advance metrology solutions for advanced semiconductor devices. You design experiments, develop measurement methods, and present results to customers and internal teams.

The role requires travel up to 20% internationally and up to 40% in fab environments, collaborating with process engineers and engineering groups to tailor equipment and data analytics for real-world applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master/Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related science and engineering field.
  • Experience in the design of experiments.
  • Ability to deliver effective technical presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Strong understanding of optical properties of materials and light–matter interaction.
  • Experience with scientific programming (e.g., Matlab/Python) is a plus.
  • Experience with data science and statistical analysis is a plus.
  • Knowledge of numerical techniques including Fourier and wavelet analysis, differential equations.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with process engineers in semiconductor fabs to develop metrology solutions for complex multi-layer, optical critical dimension (scatterometry), and overlay measurements for state‑of‑the‑art logic/memory devices.
  • Application development and characterization of cutting‑edge measurement technologies.
  • Creating technology/product presentations.
  • Providing technical training for customers.
  • Support account/product activities at customer sites.
  • Interface with customers to highlight application opportunities and possibilities.
  • Perform on‑site tool qualification to meet the customer's specifications.
  • Build and optimize scatterometry and ellipsometry models for both Thin Film and OCD applications.
  • Travel to HQ for training, summit, and workshops.
  • Collect future development feedback from the field and dispense it to our engineering & marketing group.
  • Deliver technical presentation and perform system demonstration/sample inspection/measurement for customers.
  • Interface with external customers and internal departments to best determine equipment specifications.
  • Aid in the design and development of new equipment or re‑design of existing systems to meet customer requirements.
  • Establish a good relationship with the customer and develop commercial awareness.
Requirements
  • Bachelor/Master/Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related science and engineering field.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Experience in the design of experiments.
  • Ability to deliver effective technical presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Strong understanding of optical properties of materials and other forms of elastic/inelastic light‑matter interaction.
  • Experience with scientific programming is a plus.
  • Experience with data science and statistical analysis is a plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages used for data analytics (e.g., Matlab/Python) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of numerical techniques, Fourier and wavelet analysis, complex analysis, differential equations, and similar applied mathematical techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20%.
  • Ability to work in the fab up to 40%.
