Job summary

Carrier Rentals, a Carrier Global Corporation unit, seeks an Applications & Projects Engineer to solve HVAC and power-generation challenges for commercial and industrial customers. You will design tailored rental solutions, develop system designs, and provide technical documentation while collaborating with sales, operations, and customers.

Ideal candidates will have HVAC experience, strong technical communication, and familiarity with rental equipment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1+ years of experience working with HVAC systems and technologies.
• 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD or similar engineering software.
• 1+ years of experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical blueprints, schematics, and control system documentation.
• High School Diploma / GED.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of current and legacy rental systems products.
• Collaborate with sales and customers to support rental applications across a broad spectrum.
• Analyze and review engineering specifications to ensure planned equipment usage meets customer needs.
• Develop project proposals based on customer needs and provide design assistance.
• Create and maintain engineering specification sheets, technical documentation, and product documentation for rental offerings.
• Prepare standardized installation layouts to assist the sales team.
• Generate RFQ documents and secure bid proposals for equipment purchases and rentals.
• Maintain purchasing files and specifications for traceability.
• Travel to project and vendor sites to act as a technical expert for Carrier Rental Systems.
• Perform load calculations based on customer data to aid sales in equipment specification.
• Define equipment nomenclature and maintain related documents.

At Carrier Rentals, the Applications & Projects Engineer plays a critical role in helping customers solve complex temperature control, HVAC, and power generation challenges. This position combines technical expertise, engineering design, and customer collaboration to develop tailored solutions that support a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. As a trusted technical advisor, you will partner closely with sales, operations, and customers to evaluate project requirements, design optimized rental solutions, and ensure successful project execution. You'll leverage your engineering knowledge to select equipment, develop system designs, create technical documentation, and provide expert support throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an expert-level knowledge of current and legacy rental systems products.
• Collaborate with sales and customers directly to support rental applications across a broad spectrum.
• Analyze and review engineering specifications to ensure that the planned equipment usage will satisfy the customer's cooling, heating, and electrical needs.
• Develop project proposals based on customer needs and provide application design assistance.
• Planned, generate, release, and maintain engineering specification sheets, technical documentation, and specialized product documentation for all rental systems product offerings.
• Prepare standardized installation layouts needed in assisting the sales team.
• Generate request for quote (RFQ) documents and secure bid proposals for both purchasing new equipment and packaging of equipment for rental use.
• Maintain equipment purchasing files on all new equipment for traceability including creating specification sheets.
• Travel to project and vendor sites (when required) to act as a technical expert on behalf of Carrier Rental Systems.
• Perform load calculations, based on known customer data to assist sales in accurately specifying equipment.
• Assist in defining equipment nomenclature and maintaining documents associated with all rental equipment.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1+ years of experience working with HVAC systems and technologies.
• 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD or similar engineering software.
• 1+ years of experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical blueprints, schematics, and control system documentation.
• High School Diploma / GED.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Architectural, Civil, or other related field).
• Exceptional communication skills (written and oral).
• Deep experience with temporary engineering solutions or HVAC applications.
• Engineering degree with HVAC emphasis preferred.Advanced ability to adapt and react in a very fast-paced work environment.

Up to 15%

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
