Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in the San Diego Metropolitan Area for an Applications Manager position. Key responsibilities include:
- Drive the end-to-end application process, serving as the leader accountable for on-time delivery, quality, and operational performance
- Define, maintain, and continuously optimize the applications schedule, ensuring alignment with the team and proactive management of capacity and priorities
- Define, maintain, and continuously optimize machine preventive maintenance schedules
- Communicate and coordinate between subject matter experts to develop solutions for technical applications challenges
- Serve as the primary bridge between applications and engineering teams, leading the continuous improvement of work instructions that clearly and completely define the applications and machine maintenance processes
- Ensure labor, machine time, and material costs are tracked across projects and clearly reported to management
- Ensure applications documentation is created before, during, and upon completion of all projects
- Ensure a safe operating environment for the applications team holding regularly scheduled safety meetings and enforcing safety compliance amongst the team
- Ensure all machines and surrounding areas are organized and clean, implementing 6S methodologies as necessary
- Report production status, risks, and issues to management on a regular cadence, providing clear visibility into performance and a forward-looking view of potential impacts
- Communicate regularly with customers to ensure project schedules and goals are completed in accordance with customer needs
- Coordinate with outside vendors to acquire materials and equipment to support the applications team and project needs
- Lead ISO compliance implementation and ongoing adherence for the applications team, ensuring alignment with ISO9001 processes and documentation
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Laser Welding and/or Additive Manufacturing Operations Management
- Proficiency overseeing manufacturing processes, ensuring process quality, and optimizing workflows
- Ability to lead teams, manage resources, and drive operational efficiency
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements in manufacturing settings
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Previous experience in metal additive manufacturing or advanced manufacturing technologies is a plus
