Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking an Applications Manager to lead the Enterprise Applications Services team, overseeing ERP, student information, timekeeping and payroll systems, and related SaaS/on-premise platforms. You will liaise with districts, auditors, and leadership to ensure secure, reliable, well-documented systems aligned with operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in IT/CS, 5–7 years of related experience, strong data/reporting skills, and leadership in system implementations and upgrades.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, accounting, or related field is required.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge and technical expertise in enterprise application support, project management, data analysis and reporting, database concepts, application security, systems administration, business process improvement, and student/financial accounting systems and applications.
  • Excellent written, oral, and customer-service communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics clearly to leadership, auditors, vendors, and end users.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a staff of developers and analysts and provide technical guidance, coaching, project management, and prioritization of daily operational support.
  • Manage and coordinate application development, business intelligence, analytics, and data reporting activities across WCPS communities, including Instruction, Finance, Student Information, Administrative, Transportation, Food Service, Facilities, and other designated departments.
  • Work with the Enterprise Applications team to design, maintain, and improve data repositories and reporting solutions required for state, federal, Board, county, executive, and operational reporting.
  • Oversee integrations, scheduled data exchanges, and data validation processes between internal and third-party systems.
  • Manage the design, development, and implementation of applications, processes, and solutions using appropriate tools and vendor-supported platforms.
  • Manage the design, development, and continuous improvement of dashboards, metrics, KPIs, forecasts, projections, and reporting tools that support executive, Board, county, state, strategic, and operational decision-making.
  • Coordinate system upgrades, release testing, application authentication changes, SSO/MFA impacts, production readiness activities, change communications, and post-implementation support.
  • Lead or coordinate application security activities, including user access workflows, role-based access, privileged/admin account review, sensitive-data access controls, and documentation of application-level security practices.
  • Lead or coordinate audit and compliance responses related to enterprise applications, including technical evidence gathering, application inventories, system-control explanations, database/application control documentation, and follow-up with auditors or leadership.
  • Coordinate vendor relationships, support cases, escalations, customer success discussions, product roadmap awareness, implementation planning, and resolution of critical application issues.
  • Prioritize team workload across application support, internal escalations, projects, system upgrades, emergency needs, and long-term improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in and provide input regarding the design and development of new financial, instructional, data governance, cybersecurity-aligned, and other enterprise application initiatives being considered for implementation.
  • Work closely with the Director of Technology to set direction and priorities for application development; develop/enhance system policies/procedures and documentation; and assist in strategic planning for the evolution and continuous improvement of application systems.
  • Perform related work as required.

Summary

The Applications Manager provides leadership, supervision, and technical direction for the district's Enterprise Applications Services team. This position oversees the support, configuration, integration, security, reporting, documentation, and continuous improvement of major administrative and instructional systems. These systems include ERP, student information, timekeeping and payroll, data reporting, workflow, and related SaaS and on-premise platforms. The Applications Manager also serves as a liaison between Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, Student Services, Instruction, Transportation, Food Service, Facilities, vendors, auditors, and district leadership to ensure enterprise systems are secure, reliable, well-documented, and aligned with operational needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, accounting, or related field is required.

Five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience required. Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted.

Advanced knowledge and technical expertise in the areas of enterprise application support, project management, data analysis and reporting, database concepts, application security, systems administration, business process improvement, and student/financial accounting systems and applications.

Excellent written, oral, and customer-service communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics clearly to leadership, auditors, vendors, and end users.

Prior experience with:

  • Enterprise systems experience- ERP, SIS, HR/payroll/timekeeping, workflow, and related vendor-supported SaaS or on-premise platforms.
  • Data, reporting, and integration experience- SQL, dashboards, reporting tools, data validation, repositories, APIs, file transfers, scheduled jobs, scripting, or automation.
  • Leadership and project experience- supervising or guiding technical staff, assigning priorities, coaching team members, and supporting implementations, upgrades, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Security, compliance, and vendor experience- access controls, role-based permissions, audit support, data governance, privacy, documentation of controls, vendor escalation, release testing, and upgrade coordination.
