Job summary
HAHN Automation Group US, Inc. sucht einen erfahrenen technischen Berater für Anwendungen/Mechanik, der kundenspezifische Konzepte entwickelt und technische Machbarkeit prüft. Sie erstellen Systemlayouts, analysieren Kundenspezifikationen und liefern Kosteninputs.
Sie arbeiten eng mit Vertrieb, Fertigung und F&E zusammen, identifizieren Risiken und unterstützen Übergänge von Quote zu Cash. Reisebereitschaft (international/innen).
Qualifications
- Bachelor-Abschluss in Engineering, Manufacturing oder vergleichbar.
- Mindestens 5 Jahre Erfahrung in Anwendungen oder mechanischer Ingenieurkunst, davon 3 Jahre in Kostenschätzung, Projektmanagement oder Vertriebsunterstützung.
- Ausgeprägte Fähigkeit, technisch machbare, wirtschaftliche Anlagekonzepte aus Kundenspezifikationen abzuleiten.
- Risikoerkennung und Bewertung technischer, Budget- und Terminrisiken.
- Fähigkeit, Informationen aus internen/externen Quellen zu beschaffen, um Arbeitsaufwand und Materialkosten realistisch zu schätzen.
- Umfassendes Verständnis der Produkte und Fertigungsprozesse der Kunden.
- Kommunikationsstärke, Teamfähigkeit und kundenorientiertes Handeln.
Responsibilities
- Technische Konzepte basierend auf Kundenvorgaben ausarbeiten.
- Technische Machbarkeit in Zusammenarbeit mit Fachabteilungen bewerten.
- Systemlayouts, Konzeptionen und Vorentwürfe erstellen.
- Kundenspezifikationen analysieren und berücksichtigen.
- Technische Eingaben für Kostenschätzungen liefern und Material- sowie Engineering-Aufwendungen prüfen.
- Technische Unterlagen für Angebote erstellen (Beschreibungen, Annahmen, Umfang).
- Technische Risiken identifizieren und Optimierungsmöglichkeiten aufzeigen.
- Mit internen Stakeholdern koordinieren und Übergang von Quote zu Cash sicherstellen.
- Technische Klärungen während der kommerziellen Verhandlung liefern.
- Reisebereitschaft, inklusive In- und Ausland.

The principal duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Develop technical concepts based on customer requirements provided by Sales Departments
- Evaluate technical feasibility in collaboration with specialist departments (e.g., automation, manufacturing, R&D)
- Prepare system layouts, configuration concepts, and preliminary engineering drawings
- Analyze customer specifications and requirement documents (provided by Sales)
- Provide technical input for cost calculation and validate material & engineering effort assumptions
- Prepare technical documentation for quotations (technical descriptions, assumptions, scope boundaries)
- Identify technical risks, constraints and optimization opportunities
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure concept alignment & smooth transition into quote to cash process – stays contact person throughout the project
- Provide internal technical clarifications during commercial negotiation phase
- Travel required, including overnight travel – potentially domestic and international
Education: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 5+ years of experience in applications or mechanical engineering with three years of experience in estimating, project management, or sales administration in a technical industry
Additional skills:
- Ability to create technically feasible, economical equipment concepts from customer specifications consisting of varying levels of detail
- Ability to identify and account for potential risks (technical, budget, schedule, etc.) that may be encountered during the execution of quoted projects
- Ability to obtain and process information from internal and external resources in order to accurately estimate the labor and material costs required to execute projects being quoted
- A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of our customers’ products and manufacturing processes
- An understanding of the capabilities and benefits of the equipment being quoted—and the ability to effectively communicate those benefits to customers
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple customer opportunities simultaneously in an environment where priorities are constantly changing
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- A strong customer service mindset, considering customer needs and concerns in decision-making
- A disciplined, goal-oriented personality with the creativity to provide and work with new ideas and approaches to design and processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and 2D/3D design software
- Flexibility to travel, domestic and international, and work additional hours as needed to meet project requirements
- A commitment to integrity, ethical and economical practices, and the organization’s values and mission
- Full body mobility with the ability to bend, stoop, climb, and lift or move 25 lbs. of weight
- The ability to walk within restricted areas of the company manufacturing plant
- Professional conduct in regards to hygiene and dress
- The ability to read and prepare business documents as well as conduct business over the telephone in a sometimes-loud environment
- The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- The ability to travel to customer, supplier, and/or inter-company sites via vehicle or airplane (both domestic and international)
- Valid driver’s license with driving record of acceptable risk as defined by HAHN Automation Group US’s insurance company
- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States now and in the future without employment visa sponsorship
