Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, seeks an Applications Engineer II/III for its Nashville division. You will translate customer requirements into technically capable automation concepts, own cost estimates, and draft proposals in response to RFPs, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in automation, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Visual Components), and proven abilities in cost estimation and customer interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (2 years of relevant work experience per year of study).
• 5+ years of experience in automation, machinery, or related technical industries.
• Hands-on experience in Applications Engineering, quoting, and customer interaction.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Visual Components).
• Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Current or prior JR Automation experience in automation is strongly preferred.
• Life Science industry experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer specifications, requirements, and pain points.
• Interact with customers during definition of machine requirements and proposal presentation.
• Generate conceptual automation solutions using CAD tools.
• Develop cost estimates, risk assessments, and flow diagrams to support proposals.
• Prepare and participate in quote reviews, presenting concepts, costs, risks, and timelines.
• Author clear proposals outlining scope, production rates, and requirements.
• Support Account Managers by incorporating customer pain points into proposals.
• Provide cross-functional technical support during quoting and early projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Travel to customer sites as needed.
