Job summary

Cherokeetulsa is seeking a qualified engineer to translate customer requirements into practical gas-analytical configurations. You will review RFQs, P&IDs, drawings, and data sheets to develop comprehensive BOMs for Sales and Estimating, coordinating with manufacturers for lead times and pricing.

The role requires 3+ years in natural gas measurement or analytical instrumentation, a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years of experience in natural gas measurement or analytical instrumentation.
• Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Job description

Primary Duties / Responsibilities:

• Review RFQs, specifications, P&IDs, drawings, data sheets, and customer scope documents.
• Translate customer requirements into practical system configurations.
• Develop complete quote BOMs for Sales and Estimating.
• Select analyzers, sample handling equipment, instrumentation, enclosures, electrical components, controls, and accessories.
• Identify missing information, scope gaps, conflicting requirements, and technical risks.
• Document quotation assumptions, exclusions, exceptions, and customer clarifications.
• Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors for technical information, equipment selection, pricing, and lead times.
• Provide technical support to Inside Sales, Outside Sales, and customers during the quotation process.
• Support quote revisions, technical reviews, customer meetings, and project handoffs.
• Develop and maintain standard BOMs, configurations, and application guidelines.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement ERP capabilities that improve quotation and design efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Abilities:

• Must be available to travel; may be required to travel up to 10%.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of complex RFQs and ability to answer questions related to quotes.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, drawings, specifications, equipment data sheets.
• Ability to develop and maintain accurate, detailed Bills of Material.
• Ability to develop a thorough understanding of Company products, integration capabilities, and their applications with customer equipment.
• Willingness to share technical knowledge and contribute to standardized tools and practices.
• Knowledge and understanding of natural gas processing as it relates to analytical instrumentation (Gas Chromatographs, Contaminant Analyzers, Sample Handling, etc.).
• Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including NEC/NFPA 70, API, AGA, and GPA requirements.
• Experience with Instrumentation specification (Transmitters, Control Valves, Regulators, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational, time management and scheduling skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple RFQs and priorities.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience in natural gas measurement, analytical instrumentation, process instrumentation, or systems integration.

Certifications / License

• Required to maintain a valid Driver’s License free of unlawful traffic violations.

Physical Requirements:

• May be required to traverse uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to work in areas that require stretching, squatting, bending, and reaching.
• May be required to push, pull, lift, or carry objects, such as tools and/or equipment, weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures as needed.

Environmental Conditions:

• Work is normally performed in a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues. There may be occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements
