Job summary

MAHLE is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the Product Development Process for MAHLE projects from assigned customer(s) and products. You will represent MAHLE at the assigned customer(s) for technical occasions.

Create and maintain a network for information and communication flow both from customer to MAHLE and vice versa as well as within MAHLE’s global organization. You will take full responsibility for all aspects of application engineering duties for the assigned customer projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business and 1–2 years related experience or training.
  • Experience managing multiple account/customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of contract negotiations and product development.
  • General automotive technical knowledge including powertrains and testing.
  • Familiar with OEM product development systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Project management tasks and responsibilities for assigned customer projects.
  • Coordinate product development projects from design to production.
  • Review and manage project budgets and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and align with MAHLE's goals and missions.
  • Stay updated on MAHLE technologies and support customers in development programs.
  • Follow market trends and inform management about key issues.
  • Plan and conduct customer presentations; host plant visits and lead technical meetings. Travel domestically and internationally.
  • Clarify prototype order issues with customers and direct resources to resolve them.
  • Maintain networks with MAHLE plants and entities; organize customer visits and audits.
  • Use knowledge to support plant productivity and cost improvements.

Your Contribution

As an Applications Engineer, you will support the Product Development Process (PDP) for MAHLE projects from assigned customer(s) and products. You will represent MAHLE at the assigned customer(s) for technical occasions. Create and maintain a network for information and communication flow both from customer to MAHLE and vice versa as well as within MAHLE’s global organization. You will take full responsibility for all aspects of application engineering duties for the assigned customer projects. It may also include special assignments in relation to the function as an Application Engineer & Project Manager not specified here. Coordinate activities in the event of a pending milestone might be missed to establish a recovery plan and notify customer.

  • Project Management tasks, powers, and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the product development projects from the design phase and into production.
  • Support, set up and review of actual project budgets, compare activities and results with previously established budgets, and appropriate corrective measures in case of deviations.
  • Take responsibility for customer satisfaction and follow the company’s strategies, goals and missions.
  • Continuously maintain familiarity with MAHLE product technology and follow up newly developed technologies and practices in order to be able to support our customers in their development programs and other aspects relevant to MAHLE.
  • Follow market trends and keep management informed on all important issues concerning their assigned accounts.
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct customer presentations, coordinate customer visits to the plant and attend and lead technical customer meetings. Travel as required (domestically and internationally).
  • Communicate/clarify issues related to prototype orders with the customer.
  • Address customer concerns or issues as they arise by determining who at our company is best suited to resolve it and direct company resources to address the concern to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Keep a network with all relevant MAHLE plants and entities.
  • Organize customer visits and audits.
  • Use knowledge and experience to support plant productivity and cost improvements.
Your Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business from a four year college or university and one or two years related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience simultaneously managing multiple account/customer relationships
  • In-depth knowledge of contract negotiations and product development required.
  • Good general base automotive technical knowledge, including powertrains, vehicle testing, and MAHLE’s product suite.
  • Familiarity with OEM product development systems and processes required.
