Doherty Staffing Solutions in Detroit Lakes, MN is seeking an Applications Engineer to design initial layouts and provide quotes for processing, conveying, and packaging equipment. You will work with Sales, Operations, and Engineering to meet customer expectations, while maintaining project timelines and accuracy.

Responsibilities include developing concept layouts, reviewing designs with the team and customers, and generating complete engineering documentation.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude or technical inclination.
• Understanding manufacturing processes and job costing is a plus.
• CAD knowledge and familiarity with AutoCAD is required or advantageous.
• Proficiency with MS Excel is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design initial concept layouts of new equipment and systems.
• Prepare quotes and estimates for the Sales Team.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on project specifications.
• Review layouts with Customer and Sales to define scope and solutions.
• Create project documentation including drawings and data sheets.
• Support kick-off meetings and travel to client sites when needed.

Job Title: Applications EngineerLocation: Detroit Lakes, MNCompensation: Applications Technician level is $50,000-65,000 | Applications Engineer will be $65,000-85,000Schedule: 1st Shift hoursJob Type: Direct Hire | Full-timeAbout the Opportunity: Doherty Staffing Solutions is partnering with a local Detroit Lakes, MN manufacturing company, as they search for an Application Engineer to join the growing team. The Applications Engineer supplies the initial design concept, layout, and quote estimates to our Sales Team to provide the best possible processing, conveying, and packaging equipment solutions for our customers. Working internally with cross functional teams to provide design specifications, project management, and meeting Customer expectations is an integral part of this role.ResponsibilitiesWork with Executive management, Operations, Project management, Sales, and Controls on client projects, expectations, and deliveries.Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies to improve Applications design and quoting timeMaintaining quoting schedules to meet delivery deadlinesFollow RFQ processesAssist in developing RFQ standards and proceduresProvide estimated cost of build for concept layoutsWork directly with Customers and Sales Team to gather project informationDesigns initial concept layouts of new equipment and systems using 2D AutoCADReview concept layouts and designs with Customer and Sales teamRead through customer specifications to provide Sales with accurate solution and scope on projectsAssist in calculations to determine labor hours, material and outside services necessary to produce customers request for quote.Create complete project documentation for engineering to include drawings related to layout plans, elevation, data sheets and project specificationsManages kick-off meetings with Engineering & Controls once a project is approvedAssist Sales on technical sales visits and project reviewsAbility to travel to client sites to evaluate project scopes with or without your team when necessaryREQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Understanding manufacturing processes and job costing and/or estimating experience a plus. Must have mechanical aptitude and/or technical inclination. Knowledge of CAD required with AutoCAD and MS Excel a plus.
