Job summary

G&F Precision Molding Inc. is seeking an Applications Engineer to evaluate customer silicone rubber and plastic applications and lead tooling, automation, and cost modeling.

The role requires collaboration with mold making, equipment, automation, and material experts to deliver technically sound solutions. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in applications or related manufacturing roles, a BS in plastics or mechanical engineering, and the ability to work onsite in Fiskdale or Danvers, MA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. and eligible to work without sponsorship.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of plastic and silicone injection molding processes and ISO 9001/13485 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer silicone rubber and plastic applications for manufacturing approaches.
  • Lead tooling, automation, injection molding, and risk reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with mold making, equipment, automation, and materials experts.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Applications Engineer to discover technical solutions to customers’ needs and support G&F’s engineering team with implementation.

What You’ll Do

  • Application Evaluation: Evaluate customer silicone rubber and plastic applications for manufacturing approaches.
  • Strategy Identification: Lead tooling, automation, injection molding, and risk reduction strategies to successfully manufacture custom parts.
  • Technology Collaboration: As a developing technical-commercial contributor, you’ll partner with mold making, equipment, automation, and material experts to stay up to date with the latest industry technologies.
  • Cost Modeling: Engineer cost models and effectively communicate the value of proposed solutions through quotations.
  • Customer Confidence: Communicates clearly, builds confidence, and honors commitments.
  • Design Leadership: Lead design for manufacturing activities using SolidWorks, mold filling analysis, CT scanning, and other technologies.
  • Prototyping Support: Support evaluations, prototyping and 3D mold design reviews on key projects.
  • Program Handoff: Manage the handoff of new programs to the program manager and support their technical needs.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, injection molding, mold design, technical sales, or a related technical manufacturing role preferred; medical device or other related manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Visa Status: Authorized to work in the U.S. and eligible to work without sponsorship. Must be ITAR compliant (US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder)
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software), alongside the ability to interpret 2D engineering drawings.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of plastic and silicone injection molding processes, molds, materials, and automation, with ISO 9001 and/or 13485 experience preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of business internally and externally.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in cleanroom environments, lift up to 15 pounds, and work at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Travel: Ability to accommodate occasional domestic and international travel, alongside periodic, consistent travel between the Danvers, MA and Fiskdale, MA facilities.
