Job summary

Ingredion is offering a summer internship with the Customized Formulations Applications & Development team in White Marsh, MD. You will support new product development, create formulations and prototypes, and work in a pilot plant and lab bench on various customer and business initiatives under manager guidance.

You will handle lab experiments, data analysis, and prepare technical reports while collaborating with team members.

Qualifications

• Must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
• GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program; US work authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Operate laboratory equipment safely with minimal supervision.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment following GMPs.
• Manage projects to meet timelines and deliverables.
• Analyze data, results and literature to advance projects.
• Collaborate with Customized Formulations team and internal colleagues.

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious student to join our R&D team for summer 2027! As the Customized Formulations Applications & Development Intern , you will support new product development and creating customer valued solutions. You will be responsible for developing/preparing food formulations and prototypes for various customer and business initiatives on a pilot plant and lab bench top scale utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices. You will perform research related duties as needed or assigned, support internal and external customer request; execute on analytical testing as well as document and prepare technical reports with guidance from manager.

What you will do:

• Operating laboratory equipment safely and with little direct supervision to support project needs
• Maintaining a clean, safe work environment; following guidelines for good housekeeping and safety
• Managing work project(s) to meet project timelines and deliverables
• Analyzing and understanding data, results and scientific literature to advance projects
• Working collaboratively with Customized Formulations team members and other internal colleagues to meet target objectives
• Performing laboratory experiments, conduct data analysis and interpret results to make recommendations to project team and support the project
• Presenting prototypes, project status, updates and outcomes to team and key stakeholders
• Making presentations and writing technical reports

What you will bring:

• Progress towards a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food or Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred
• Must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior
• Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment
• Ability to work 40hrs per week during the summer internship term
• Reliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day
• Experience with hands-on food concept development with laboratory and/or pilot plant equipment is a plus
• Knowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports
• Working knowledge of basic computer software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
