Job summary

KLA is seeking a Research Scientist for the LS-SWIFT Division to analyze massive data from darkfield optical inspection systems and apply AI-driven methods for wafer defect detection. Ideal candidates have advanced degrees with 3–5+ years related experience, strong communication and leadership, and willingness to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Background in IC processing or semiconductor equipment is desirable.

The LS‑SWIFT Division of KLA’s Global Products Group seeks a research scientist experienced in darkfield optical inspection systems, data science, and Python scripting to analyze massive data sets and apply AI‑driven methodologies for wafer defect detection.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on expertise with darkfield optical inspection systems.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in data science for analysis and visualization of massive data sets.
• Familiarity with Python scripting, with exposure to basic machine learning and deep learning concepts for AI‑driven applications.
• Background in IC processing or semiconductor equipment is highly desirable.
• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Creative, self‑motivated, and collaborative.
• Willingness to travel 50% of the time.
• Master’s Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years, or Bachelor’s Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years.

Base Pay Range: $120,000.00 – $204,000.00 annually.
