Position Overview
A global Asset Management firm is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join their Charlotte team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of their investment and trading applications. You will work closely with portfolio managers, traders, operations, and technology teams to support front-to-back office systems, resolve incidents, and implement enhancements that improve business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2/3 support for critical investment applications, including order management systems (OMS), portfolio management tools, and risk platforms.
- Monitor application performance and proactively address issues to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
- Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem documentation.
- Support daily trading and operational activities, ensuring timely resolution of issues impacting business users.
- Participate in application upgrades, patching, and configuration changes.
- Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting, and automation tools.
- Document support procedures, workflows, and knowledge base articles.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in application support, preferably within financial services or asset management.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash), and Linux/Windows environments.
- Familiarity with financial instruments (equities, fixed income, derivatives) and investment workflows.
- Experience with OMS platforms (e.g., Bloomberg AIM, Charles River, Aladdin) or similar systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
- Exposure to data integration tools and APIs (e.g., FIX, REST, SOAP).
This role must sit out of the firm's Charlotte, NC office.
