Application Security Engineer

Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Application Security Engineer to join our Atlanta security team. You will lead threat modeling, perform secure code reviews, and drive vulnerability triage and remediation across the product portfolio.

Collaborating with software engineers, product managers, and security professionals, you will strengthen secure development practices, build automation, and ensure production code is robust and secure in a scalable, multi-tenant SaaS environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in application security, or software engineering with security focus.
• Solid knowledge of common vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques.
• Hands-on secure code review and application security testing experience.
• Ability to read source code and identify vulnerabilities beyond scanner output.
• Proficiency in a programming language such as Java or C++.
• Ability to reason about production code.
• Ability to independently own well-scoped security work and deliver reliably.
• Strong documentation and communication skills; ability to collaborate within a team.
• Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Atlanta office.

Responsibilities

• Perform secure code reviews, manual application security testing, and penetration testing.
• Triage and validate product vulnerabilities, assess severity and impact, and drive fixes to closure.
• Build and maintain automation and tooling to improve security processes.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend tooling or process improvements.
• Document findings and guidance clearly.
• Collaborate with developers to strengthen secure development practices across the product portfolio.
• Ramp up on assigned products, architecture, development toolchain, and release process.
• Own routine security work end to end and contribute automation or process improvements.
• Report to the Director of Product Security and take direction from the Manager of Application Security.
• Work with security engineers, product managers, and developers

Requirements

• Hands‑on manual secure code review and application security testing experience
• Ability to read source code and identify vulnerabilities beyond scanner output
• Proficiency in a programming language such as Java or C++
• Ability to reason about production code
• Ability to independently own well-scoped security work and deliver reliably
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
• Good documentation and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate within a team
• Exposure to multiple security domains such as application, system, cloud, or mobile preferred
• Experience writing automation or scripts preferred
• Familiarity with AI tooling and interest in testing agentic AI systems preferred
• Prior software industry or multi‑tenant SaaS experience preferred
• Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Atlanta office
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
