Job description

A financial firm is looking for an Application Production Support Analyst to join their team in Irving or Tampa.

Duration: 5+ months (possible RTH)

ABSOLUTE MUST: Unix, SQL, Python
GREAT TO HAVE: Autosys and big data

Looking for at least 3+ years of Application Production Support experience with strength in SQL and Linux. Will be supporting legal, regulatory, and reporting applications.
Must have strength in command line and SQL (writing and troubleshooting queries). Ab Initio is a nice to have but not required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform analysis of existing application protocols and software tools and actively engage with the various support teams for the smooth functioning of the firm's business.
  2. Provide application support oversight in resolving and troubleshooting problems.
  3. Provide and support recommendations for improved procedures and policies.
  4. Work with various vendors and ensure that issue resolution is as per firm's standards and there is timely notification to the customers for the ongoing production issues.
  5. Ensure that there is a seamless communication channel between the support and the development team for ensuring the production issues are fixed in a timely manner.
  6. Assist and support in achieving departmental goals and objectives.
  7. Provide advanced application support to effectively utilize the system infrastructure and resources.
  8. Provide direct assistance to users in using and interpreting software tools and products.
  9. Interact with software vendors to provide best solutions to business problems.
  10. Ensure compliance of all security measures in application development processes.
  11. Oversee the process for technical issue escalation; prioritize technical issue resolution.
  12. Oversee resolution of major system outages ensuring communication to interested parties.
  13. Start of day checks, continuous monitoring, and regional handover.
  14. Act as a liaison between users/traders, interfacing internal technology groups and vendors.
  15. Provide technical oversight across systems and applications; leverage skills across apps support area.
  16. Participate in application releases, from development, testing, and deployment into production.
  17. Develop and maintain technical support documentation.

Qualifications:
  1. First class degree with excellent academic qualifications. B.E/ B.Tech. in Comp science, IT, or other engineering disciplines from a reputed institute with relevant work experience.
  2. 3-4 years' experience in handling production support activities, identifying and resolving technical issues.
  3. Experience with handling ETL jobs (Ab-Initio) with sound expertise in UNIX to identify issues at the data level and trace file transfers from one system to another.
  4. Good expertise in database level analysis to trace issues to closure. Extensive experience in writing complex and efficient SQL DML statements.
  5. Aware of various scheduling tools.
  6. Managing ticketed query system and ensuring comprehensive database of queries and resolutions is kept up to date.
  7. Delivering regular and customized training to teams within the business.
  8. Experience on shell scripting would be an added advantage.
  9. Desired but not mandatory to have experience with ETL/Database Development tools.
