Cognizant’s Software Platform & Engineering service line provides transformative modern engineering services at scale for our clients. Comprised of four practices – Digital Experience (DX), Digital Engineering, Application Development & Management, and Quality Engineering & Assurance – we offer end-to-end value to organizations seeking to modernize technical architecture, escape legacy constraints, and develop new products and services.

The Technology Specialist will possess deep expertise in one or more areas of the Software and Platform Engineering Practice, supporting Cognizant’s client account teams across various vertical markets. This role involves acting as a trusted advisor to both clients and Cognizant’s Client Partners, blending strategic insights with tactical sales experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Drive revenue growth by leading digital engagements for a $50M+ business unit and act as the chief growth officer for this portfolio.
  2. Partner with practices and delivery teams to define and drive transformation strategies and service offerings across Software & Platform Engineering, including digital engineering, application development, maintenance, and quality engineering.
  3. Map client organizations, build relationships with new business units, and develop strategies for new business opportunities within Software & Platform Engineering.
  4. Engage with VP/CXO decision-makers across IT and business teams in domains such as Financial Services, Fintech, and Insurance through consultative and transformative conversations.
  5. Lead the design and implementation of digital transformation projects to improve business processes and customer experiences.
  6. Oversee the development and execution of digital strategies to foster business growth and innovation.
  7. Provide technical expertise in Azure and AWS Cloud to ensure scalable, robust solutions.
  8. Identify and develop new opportunities within existing and new business areas.
  9. Support account and delivery leadership by identifying risks and issues, and leading client discussions to mitigate them.
  10. Develop and execute account growth strategies and business plans for Software & Platform Engineering services.
  11. Manage growth, business development, customer relationships, and talent needs.
  12. Operate within a matrix organization to support prospecting and sales management goals.
  13. Maintain operational excellence, system hygiene, and KPI measurement.
  14. Lead end-to-end lead generation, sales, and business development processes, including RFI/RFP management.
  15. Drive growth to meet revenue and booking targets.
  16. Lead negotiations on financial and contractual terms, including outsourcing discussions.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  1. 14+ years of experience in consulting, practice management, or delivery transformation, with hands-on skills in at least two core areas such as Digital Engineering, Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Product Engineering, Legacy Modernization, SRE, or Application Management.
  2. Strong understanding and practical experience in designing and leading digital solutions.
  3. At least 5+ years of experience in Banking & Financial Services, Fintech, or Insurance domains.
  4. Minimum 2+ years of experience in business development, presales, sales, or practice growth management.
  5. Proficiency in Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS) for designing scalable solutions.
  6. Proven ability to develop and implement digital strategies that drive growth.
  7. Experience in digital engineering, application development, and quality engineering practices.
  8. Track record of growing technology consulting practices, managing sales cycles from opportunity to contract, with deal sizes ranging from $250K to over $10M+.
  9. Strong communication skills, with the ability to structure and deliver compelling presentations and proposals.
  10. Self-motivated, flexible, and ownership-driven.
  11. Structured thinker with the ability to influence senior decision-makers and develop followership.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience leading large, structured deals in Banking & Financial sectors.
  2. Knowledge of agentic frameworks is a plus.
  3. Cloud certifications and experience with Generative AI are advantageous.
