Job summary

ABB in Westerville, OH is seeking a QCS Engineering professional to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline on small to mid-size projects. You will lead system software development, coordinate tests, and support customer deployment on site.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Paper Science and several years of related experience, fluent English (Spanish a plus), and familiarity with VMware, networking, and industrial automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years of professional work or related experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Paper Science, and 4 years of QCS application experience in the Pulp and Paper industry is preferred.
• Fluent in written and verbal English, Spanish a plus.
• VMware vSphere Knowledge a plus.
• Networking Knowledge a plus.
• Previous Industrial Automation Experience a plus.
• Microsoft Operating Systems Experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for software specials proposals and planning/schedule management.
• Develop System Functional Specification for projects when lead role is assigned; manage System software implementation when lead role is assigned.
• Prepare System software and ready for internal integration test; support integration test of systems during internal testing; support Factory Acceptance Test with Customer if included in project.
• Support system implementation at Customer site and assist start-up activities; document and drive resolution of system software issues.
• Provide Level 3 support line coverage on a periodic basis; communicate feedback to Engineering Manager for knowledge transfer to the group.
• Ensure Customer satisfaction by providing technical support during start-up, optimization and results stages; relay feedback to Project Manager.

This position reports to:

Acts as a design authority for an engineering discipline with medium complexity. Completes assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards.

Responsibilities:

• Sales Support:

  • Provide technical support as required for software specials proposals.

  • Planning and Schedule Management.

  • Develop System Functional Specification for all projects when lead role is assigned.

  • Manage System software implementation when lead role is assigned.

• Project Execution:

  • Prepare System software and make ready for internal integration test.

  • Support integration test of systems during internal One-hundred Percent Test.

  • Support Factory Acceptance Test with Customer, if included in project.

• Commissioning:

  • Support system implementation at Customer site and support start-up activities.

  • Follow-up with system software issues, document on support line and drive to resolution.

• Support Line:

  • Provide Level 3 support line coverage on periodic basis.

  • Feedback technical issues to Engineering Manager for knowledge transfer to entire group.

• Customer Satisfaction:

  • Provide Technical support of project activities during the start-up, optimization and results stage of the project. Ensure Customer feedback is communicated to Project Manager.

Time off

ABB provides 11 paid holidays. Vacation is provided based on years of service for hourly and non-exempt positions. Salaried exempt positions are provided vacation under a permissive time away policy.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $58,500 and $93,600 annually.
