Job summary

Sigler, an established HVAC distributor headquartered in Tolleson, AZ, seeks an Application Engineer to design, apply, and price complex systems (chillers, AHU, VRF) for commercial projects. You will work with outside sales engineers, engineering firms, and contractors to develop bids, submittals, and technical specifications.

The role requires BS in Mechanical Engineering and 1–2 years of HVAC experience with Carrier products, plus familiarity with Carrier software for pricing and proposals.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 1-2 years of HVAC industry experience as TE or Application Engineer with Carrier products experience.
• 3-4 HVAC design experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide design, systems application, and proposal preparation for complex systems.
• Read, interpret, and price engineering equipment selections based on contract documents.
• Review engineering design and contractual documents to identify risk and compliance.

Position Summary:

The Application Engineer provides design, systems application, and proposal preparation for complex systems. Works with outside sales engineer, and customer contracting and engineering house accounts. Responsible for applied equipment selection; chiller, AHU, VRF etc. job pricing, creation of bid projects, producing submittals, for applied and complex systems and other key job responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide high level independent ownership of projects of varying size at the different stages of execution, sometimes from start to finish including design, vetting, bidding- submittals, discuss the selections with engineering house accounts.
• Read, interpret, and make pricing and technical equipment selections, decisions based on contract documents, including but not limited to engineering specifications, engineered equipment schedules and architectural/engineering plans
• Review of engineering design and contractual documents to identify areas of risk and compliance
• Utilize mechanical engineering to verify mechanical equipment is being applied and implemented within the intended and acceptable range of operation
• Estimating and proposal writing of complex commercial engineered equipment and automation projects
• Technical specification writing and review
• Design and application support of external consulting engineering firms for commercial and industrial construction projects
• Project site visits for engineering, and application support of commercial equipment and automation.
• Offsite project and opportunity meetings with contractors, engineers, owners, and complementary trades
• Management of multiple time sensitive deadlines simultaneously
• Coordinate between the contracting sales department and engineering sales department on design changes and strategy
• Interact and work closely on a daily basis with outside sales engineers, territory managers, house engineering firms, bid desk, customer assurance department, and manufacturers
• Provide independent high-level direct support for house engineers, outside sales engineers team and contracting sales team
• Coordination and verification of multiple external vendors and internal departments to create complex single package equipment and automation solutions
• Work among a team to complete a large array of projects in varying phases, delegating work among each other, and independently completing
• Participate in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures
• Participate in job meetings, sales meetings, and trainings
• Train others within and outside of the department
• Self and group leadership of technical development training and education

Education and Experience:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required, MS Mechanical Engineering degree is
• 1-2 years of HVAC industry, TE or Application Engineer with Carrier products experience are .
• 3-4 HVAC design experience is .
