Job summary

Trane Technologies in Denver, CO is hiring an Application Engineer II to validate equipment selections, pricing and submittals for HVAC projects, driving cost competitiveness and budget performance.

You will coordinate with sales and engineering, prepare submittals, review plans, and ensure accurate equipment configurations while supporting installation and warranty service to maximize customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent HVAC experience.
• Minimum two years in HVAC project management or estimating, or five years in HVAC PM/estimating roles.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and temperature controls preferred.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Optimize/validate equipment selection, configuration, voltage and options from plans and estimates.
• Evaluate potential cost savings or problems across projects.
• Review plans and specs to validate quantities and configurations.
• Support sales with preliminary/final submittals and hold cost consensus meetings.
• Negotiate prices with vendors and manage expediting and job costs.
• Prepare equipment for order entry and assist with start-up and warranty support.

Trane in Denver, CO is hiring for Application Engineer II. In this role, you will be responsible for the equipment portion of various projects including validating the equipment selection, pricing, discounts, and submittal processes of the equipment portion of projects as required and will be accountable for the strategy and performance achievement of the specific budget objectives.

What you will do

• Responsible for the optimization/validation of the equipment to include selection of size, configuration, voltage, options, etc. of the HVAC equipment by reviewing the plans, specifications, original estimate and proposal.
• Responsible for evaluating possible cost savings and/or cost problems that will occur on various projects.
• Validates project scope by reviewing transition documents, plans and specs; listing possible cost savings and problems; planning EQ/ VPP dollar breaks; and validating quantities and configurations.
• Supports sales and develops preliminary submittals and/or final submittals as required, as well as hold job cost consensus meeting and submittal release and makes any necessary changes.
• Maintains competitive advantage and stays abreast of industry trends, as well as optimizes expenses by negotiating prices with vendors for materials.
• Responsible for preparing the correct equipment for order entry, verifying equipment pricing and revising coordination worksheet, as well as reconcile job costs.
• Provides technical support after an order is closed, for equipment installation process and functions required for execution and customer satisfaction, including new equipment, start-up and warranty service, and controls equipment.

What you will bring

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, OR other related areas with minimum two (2) years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience; or minimum of five (5) years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Familiarity with HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls preferred.
• Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to:DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
