Job summary

EMCOR Group in Las Vegas is seeking an Application Engineer I to coordinate the planning and design of control systems, including programming and system configuration.

You will work with equipment vendors to integrate systems, read floor plans to identify HVAC equipment, and create P&IDs and control submittals under supervision. This role supports project scope through graphics and programming while adhering to NEC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred, specifically with Niagara AX/N4 – Niagara N4 Certified.
• Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls, BACnet, MODbus, Tridium, Distech, and Delta a plus.
• Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems - Unitary Systems to Central Plants.
• Engineering skills include electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls systems (preferably Delta, JCI or Andover).
• EIT or desire to obtain a PE license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to vendor systems.
• Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans.
• Identify mechanical equipment on drawings (Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s, EF’s).
• Understand basic electrical control circuits.
• Proficient with Visio and AutoCAD.
• Understand controls networking principles.
• Display knowledge of controls hardware.
• Create P&ID’s based on contract drawings and P&ID’s.
• Develop controls submittals with assistance from senior engineers.
• Understand simple installation methods, testing, acceptance, and training.
• Implement graphics and control algorithms per project scope.
• Create guidelines, standards, and templates for typical projects.
• Basic knowledge of NEC requirements for control installations.

Job Summary

The Application Engineer I will be responsible to coordinate the planning and design of control systems to include programming and system configuration.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Works with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to their systems.
• Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans
• The ability to identify mechanical equipment on drawings the following: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s, and EF’s.
• Understand basic electrical control circuits,
• Be proficient and utilize Visio and or AutoCAD.
• Understand controls networking principles.
• Display knowledge of controls hardware
• Create P&ID’s based on contract drawings P&ID’s
• Develop controls submittals with assistance from senior level application engineers.
• Understand simple installation methods, final inspection and testing, customer acceptance and training.
• Ability to implementation systems graphics per project scope, create control algorithms, source codes and implement graphics.
• Create guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects.
• Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) requirements for control system installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred, specifically with Niagara AX/N4 – Niagara N4 Certified.
