Job summary

Leggett & Platt, Inc. seeks an Application Engineer to bridge Product Engineering, Sales, Sourcing and Production across Hydraulics. You will identify design and manufacturing improvements while supporting product development to expand the customer base.

The role emphasizes cost analysis, cross-functional teamwork and supplier collaboration. You will work on E2E product development, participate in design reviews, and ensure safety compliance while traveling as needed to support projects

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical/Design Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of engineering, manufacturing, and project management background.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, Pro-E).
• Willing to travel to support engineering projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Customer Integration: analyze requirements and site conditions to offer tailored technical solutions.
• Technical Cost Analysis: review inquiries and analyze material, labor, burden costs and capital needs.
• Product Analysis: perform cost analyses for new or existing product inquiries.
• Feedback & Product Iteration: translate feedback into actionable insights for design improvements.
• After-Market Technical Support: interface with customers to understand needs and capabilities.
• NPD/NPI: support activities through design, test, validation and production readiness.
• Research and generate new product ideas and improved designs.
• Participate in Design Reviews and Design FMEA for new development.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and collaborate across functions.
