Position Title: Application Engineer
Reports To: Project & Application Engineering Manager
Location: Richmond, VA
Position Summary

This role requires working knowledge of KSB products and processes, industry standards, and the ability to navigate complex project specifications. The ability to utilize this knowledge to complete and manage quotations for pumps, and auxiliary equipment focusing on “Engineered Business” within the Energy market segment. Employee needs to develop close relationships with the KSB Sales Personnel, local KSB Supply Chain and Operations personnel, KSB Factories, and local US suppliers of auxiliary equipment.

Tasks / Responsibilities
  • Generate and manage multiple Engineered Business project quotations at a fast pace. Candidate should be able to quote projects directly or provide pass-through support to our other KSB Offices.
  • Primary business focuses on the Energy (ENY) market areas (i.e., Power Generation), but the candidate will be expected to be able to support General Industry (e.g., Steel Mills and Paper Mills, and potentially Petrochemical Chemical (PCC) market areas as necessary.
  • Technical responses to local KSB personnel, KSB factories, sub-suppliers, and customers.
  • Responsible for using KSBs tools in providing pump technical information such as datasheets, speed curves, drawings, etc.
  • Ability to interact with vendors for buyouts.
  • Ability to understand/translate drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to compile costing for all equipment and project needs and work with KSB Sales Personnel to create customer quotations.
  • Stay abreast of company offerings (products and services), Tools and Systems.
  • Support AE Manager with routine reporting on key performance metrics.
  • Departmental filing and records management.
  • Other Application Engineering responsibilities, as assigned.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge and working experience working with mechanical equipment or auxiliary equipment.
Education / Experience

B.S. degree in Engineering with at least two years of experience of centrifugal pump engineering and application. Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
