Job summary

DN Solutions America is expanding its automation capabilities in Schaumburg, IL, seeking an Automation & Software Engineer to develop and deploy advanced manufacturing solutions that integrate CNC machine tools, robotics, and software systems. This role emphasizes cross-discipline ownership of complex engineering challenges and direct impact on production efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in machine tool (cutting) industry.
• Proficiency with FANUC controls.
• Strong NC programming in Milling and Turning.
• Hands-on CNC machine operation experience.
• Macro programming and PLC basics.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Application engineer for automation unit installed with DN machines, including both DN and third-party systems (e.g., Linear Pallet Systems, Gantry Loaders).
• Training Material Generation: Develop practical, step-by-step training materials and documentation with a heavy focus on how-to execution.
• Dealer & Customer Training: Conduct technical training sessions for both dealers and end-user customers.
• Customer Support: Provide comprehensive technical support via phone and email. Proactively author and publish new technical documents when existing reference materials are unavailable.
• Field Support & Troubleshooting: Travel to customer sites as required to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex mechanical and automation issues.
• Factory Liaison: Communicate with the manufacturing factory to report technical issues and request detailed technical specifications or data when necessary.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all job-related events, including technical support logs, field issues, and system improvements. Submit a monthly summary report tracking key metrics (case volume, case status, etc.).
• Skill Development: Continuously and proactively develop the necessary skills to support emerging technologies.

We are seeking an Automation & Software Engineer to help develop and deploy advanced manufacturing solutions that integrate CNC machine tools, robotics, and software systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across disciplines and taking ownership of complex, real-world engineering challenges.

Job Requirements

• Industry Experience: 5 to 10 years of professional experience in the machine tool (cutting) industry.
• CNC Controls: Proficiency with FANUC controls (experience with SIEMENS is a strong plus).
• NC Programming: Strong programming background in both Milling and Turning applications.
• CAD/CAM: Proficiency in at least one industry-standard CAD/CAM software.
• Machine Operation: Hands-on capability to set up and run CNC machines (managing tool offsets, work offsets, fixture installation, etc.).
• Macro Programming: Deep understanding of macro programming, including system and macro variables.
• PLC Foundations: At least a baseline understanding of PLCs (e.g., utilizing PLCs for alarm troubleshooting and diagnostics).

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Linear Pallet Systems (LPS) or machines utilizing Gantry Loaders.
• Hands-on operational experience with DN Solutions (Doosan) machinery.
