Job summary

Vertiv Group Corporation seeks an Application Engineer - AC Power to support Hyperscale accounts with technical solutions and proposals. You will interface with product management and design teams to ensure proposals meet customer needs and to provide input on customer requirements.

In this role you will act as a trusted advisor, analyze specifications with bid teams, and help create technical responses and submittals. Collaboration with global teams and participation in testing will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field.
• 2-4 years of industry technical experience.
• Service industry experience with electrical distribution systems and critical spaces.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office and test equipment operation.
• Independent judgment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage a select list of Hyperscale customer accounts and support account plans.
• Be the trusted advisor helping accounts achieve objectives.
• Analyze technical specifications with bid teams to ensure design intent.
• Provide technical responses including performance runs and energy analysis.
• Review product submittals in response to bids.
• Provide technical analysis of options for customer bids.
• Collaborate with Technical Lead on bid commercial aspects and final pricing.
• Assist in technical proposal creation.
• Feedback customer requirements to improve product offering.
• Understand control and operation of Vertiv Power products.
• Observe and recommend actions to improve order-to-commission practices.
• Present Vertiv solutions to industry groups and consultants.
• Coordinate with global technical teams for international solutions.
• Participate in factory tests and performance development with customers.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Application Engineer - AC Power, GSA is responsible for supporting the Hyperscale account teams with technical solutions, analysis and proposals for Hyperscale accounts and other key customer projects to enable Vertiv to become the basis of design and win thermal solutions. This role will interface with the appropriate Vertiv Product Management or Design teams to ensure compliance with project proposals and to provide input as to customer needs into the business. Interface with customers and the Consulting Engineering community to share technical knowledge around Vertiv products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage a select list of Hyperscale customer accounts. Support Account Plans to achieve both short-term and long-term account goals.
• Become the "Trusted Advisor" for these accounts advising them on how to achieve their short- and long-term objectives.
• Work with Bid Teams, Sales Offices and Account teams to analyze technical specifications, ensuring that Vertiv products meet customer design intent.
• Provide technical responses to customers and/or consultants that include performance runs, energy analysis, one-line drawings and similar requirements.
• Compile and review product submittals in response to customer bids.
• Provide technical analysis of internal and competitive options for customer bids.
• Work with Technical Lead to review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all products and services are included in the final price for the customer.
• Assist in all aspects of the technical proposal creation.
• Work with Vertiv and Design Mgmt. teams to feedback customer requirements and needs to improve the product offering.
• Understand the control and operation of all Vertiv Power products
• Observe and recommend actions to improve the Order to Commissioning practices.
• Present to Industry Technical groups and Consulting Engineers Vertiv solutions.
• Interface with the Vertiv Global technical teams to be able to support customer global solutions.
• Participate in factory witness tests, development performance and test methods with customer and lab teams

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field of study (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 2-4 years of industry technical experience.
• Service industry experience required with knowledge of electrical distribution systems, critical space environments, service products, and clients.
• Strong computer skills including editing, formatting, and using templates in all Microsoft Office programs, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research, and operation of computer-controlled test equipment.
• A high degree of creative ability and independent judgment, working with minimal supervision.
• The ability to think and act strategically, utilizing account plans to set specific account objectives.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
