The role requires 3+ years of manufacturing experience, strong CAD skills, GD&T, and the ability to generate cost estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer requirements, drawings, and CAD models to determine manufacturing feasibility.
  • Generate accurate cost estimates, labor forecasts, and production timelines.
  • Provide DFM recommendations to optimize manufacturability and reduce costs.
  • Recommend the best manufacturing process based on geometry, tolerances, materials, lead time, and cost.
  • Plan and schedule production activities across multiple manufacturing departments.
  • Support capacity planning, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, CNC programming, and customer success teams.
  • Analyze manufacturing challenges and recommend process improvements.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer / Mechanical Engineer III to act as the technical liaison between customers and manufacturing operations. This role will support customer quoting, production planning, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews across multiple manufacturing processes, including additive manufacturing, CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, powder coating, and assembly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review customer requirements, drawings, and CAD models to determine manufacturing feasibility.
  • Generate accurate cost estimates, labor forecasts, and production timelines.
  • Provide DFM recommendations to optimize manufacturability and reduce costs.
  • Recommend the best manufacturing process based on geometry, tolerances, materials, lead time, and cost.
  • Plan and schedule production activities across multiple manufacturing departments.
  • Support capacity planning, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, CNC programming, and customer success teams.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of at least two of the following:
  • Additive Manufacturing
  • CNC Machining
  • Welding
  • Sheet Metal Fabrication
  • Assembly Operations
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with cost estimation, production planning, and manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of multi-process manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in contract manufacturing or customer-facing technical roles.
  • Knowledge of DFM/DfAM principles.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming and CAM software.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam, ESPRIT, or similar tools.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
