Job summary

Ericsson Fintech in Plano, TX is seeking an Application Engineer in Operations to maintain reliable services, investigate incidents, and drive improvements across logs, code, databases, and integrations.

You will support releases, upgrades, automation, monitoring, and performance enhancements while collaborating with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders. Occasional travel and 24/7 support are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (IT/CS)
• 5+ years of related experience in this area
• Experience with Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, containers and virtualization
• Experience with SAAS cloud delivery on AWS or Azure
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitOps)
• Familiarity with AI tools to optimize work
• Programming in Bash, JavaScript/TypeScript, Terraform, Ansible, Python
• Familiarity with databases and SQL
• Networking, VPNs, load balancing, firewalls, storage, and certificates
• Observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch

You will analyse logs, code, databases, and integrations, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes. You will support releases, upgrades, emergency changes, automation, monitoring, and performance improvements. You will work closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders, while contributing to incident reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement. What You Will BringYou are a collaborative and analytical professional who can lead or contribute in multinational, multi-site, and cross-functional teams. You communicate clearly in spoken and written English and can explain complex technical issues to different audiences. You are willing to participate in 24/7 support and travel for on-site work when required. A proactive approach to problem-solving, knowledge sharing, and service improvement is essential.

Required skills and experience:

• Education: Academic degree, minimum on bachelor level, in engineering (IT, Computer Science, etc)
• 5 plus years of related experience in this area
• Experience in customer support or handling incidents, end-to-end troubleshooting, and assessing risks quickly in critical production environments
• Experience with Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, containers, and virtualization
• Experience working with SAAS cloud delivery on AWS or Azure environments
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitOps, DevOps, or equivalent
• Familiarity with AI tools such as GPT, KIRO, etc to optimize work
• Familiarity with programming in Bash, JavaScript/TypeScript, Terraform, Ansible, Python, or equivalent
• Familiarity with databases and SQL programming
• Familiarity with networking, VPNs, load balancing, firewalls, storage, and certificates
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, or similar observability tools
• Strong communication, ownership, collaboration, mentoring, and knowledge-transfer skills
• Fluent in spoken and written English; willing to participate in 24/7 support and travel for on-site work when required

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Java EE, OSGi, REST, or similar frameworks
• Knowledge of secure coding, vulnerability management, ITIL/eTOM, compliance, and audit requirements
• Oracle database experience is a merit
• Technical experience and competence in running bank/financial systems is a merit

Your Pay

The salary range for this position is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan :

Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Financial Security

We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. The Ericsson US 401(k) Plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and Ericsson match $1 for every $1 you put into the 401(k) Plan on the first 3% of your eligible pay, plus 50 cents on every $1 on the next 2% of eligible pay. When you contribute at least 5% of eligible pay, you are receiving Ericsson’s full matching contributions of 4%. Matching and company automatic contributions stop when your total eligible pay for the year reaches the IRS limits. Your Time

Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
