Job Summary

The Application Engineer is responsible for technical support, primarily customer quotations and business development case studies for various composite applications. Key emphasis will be on understanding customer requirements and rapidly demonstrating how composite-based solutions can be utilized to provide solutions with costing, timing, and resources included in the proposals.

Job Description

As Application Engineer I, you will work with a highly motivated team to bring innovative solutions to market for customers in the AGV, Robotics, and Industrial Automation Markets. Your role will involve developing new customers, supporting product development, and working closely with internal and external contract manufacturers to ensure a successful product launch.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Respond to customer requests by analyzing product costing, creation schedules, tooling costs, and submitting design and process improvements.
  • Provide technical engineering information through presentations on customer proposals, including costing breakdowns, 3D representations, and tooling details.
  • Prepare cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans, and related documents, consulting with engineers and other professionals.
  • Design composite components and assemblies to support proposals, generate CAD models, and compose detailed bill of materials.
  • Use custom metrics and analytics to generate customer quotations, collaborating with design and manufacturing teams, and interacting with departments such as Materials, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Minimum age 18+
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, electrical, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • 0-5 years of engineering experience
  • Familiarity with CAD software; SolidWorks or Inventor is a plus
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with customers
