Job summary

Gulf Electroquip, Ltd. in Houston, TX, is seeking an Application Engineer to translate customer technical requirements into motor and generator solutions.

This role bridges sales, engineering, and production by reviewing specifications, developing mechanical designs, supporting quotations, and ensuring manufacturability. You will create 3D models, review tolerances, support BOM in ERP, and collaborate with purchasing and production on technical questions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3–8 years of relevant engineering or application experience in industrial equipment manufacturing.
• Experience working directly with customers on technical requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
• Clarify scope with customers and sales as needed.
• Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical solutions aligned with customer needs.
• Prepare technical clarifications and assist with proposal development.
• Participate in customer calls to resolve technical questions pre- and post-order.
• Create and modify 3D models and drawings.
• Design mechanical components including housings, shafts, bearing fits, mounting structures, and assemblies.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups and fit/function validation.
• Review designs for manufacturability and serviceability.
• Support BOM creation and engineering releases in ERP system.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Support transition from quote to order release.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, and materials on technical questions.
• Resolve shop-floor engineering issues quickly and practically.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions when required.
• Assist with prototype builds and validation testing.
• Maintain accurate documentation and revision control.
• Support quality documentation including drawing reviews, deviations, and customer approvals.

This role bridges sales, engineering, and production by reviewing specifications, developing mechanical designs, supporting quotations, and ensuring manufacturability.
